About Us

Feral Cat Assistance Program, Inc. (FCAP) is a 501(c)(3) corporation operating in the Greensboro, NC area. FCAP originated in 1996 out of a need to do something to help the forgotten, unseen, and unwanted cats and kittens that struggled to survive in the Piedmont Triad communities. The premise was to provide free sterilization for feral cats and kittens if the caregiver was willing to sign a life-time care agreement.

FCAP's Spay Day program provides a monthly free clinic for feral cats and kittens. Hundreds of feral cats and kittens are sterilized, vaccinated, treated for fleas and ear mites each year.

FCAP also started the Cats Cradle Adoption Program (CCAP) to find suitable homes for socialized kittens and friendly strays found in feral cat colonies. FCAP holds adoption fairs each weekend as well as showcases cats and kittens at PetSmart on West Wendover Avenue in Greensboro.

FCAP is an all volunteer organization. Without the veterinarians and volunteers who give their time to run Spay Day or the foster parents who take care of social cats and kittens in the Cats Cradle Adoption Program, FCAP would not be able to accomplish the goal of helping the forgotten, unseen, and unwanted cats and kittens in our community. Because FCAP is an all volunteer organization, donations go directly to cover the costs of Spay Day and CCAP.

Feral Cat Assistance Program continues to meet the challenges it faces as the organization strives to increase the level of services that are provided to the community. FCAP members realize the challenges of an all-volunteer organization and the need to hire a director. They also know that the path to providing consistent, on-going services to the community lies in funding of a permanent facility.
